Milano Design Week just closed its doors and we’re ready for a quick recap of what’s going on in the design world across the pond.
Hundreds of Designers and Brands took over the city with their newest products and art installations. Art and Design blend together with the city’s own architecture and make you never want to leave (or sleep!). We went there and brought back few key concepts:
Everyday use objects ARE art, and should be beautiful. Versace Home (@versace) and Bitossi show how it’s done. Trust us: tableware, glassware and dining chairs are never going to look the same again.
Surfaces matter. They’re around, all over and finally deserve some recognition. We saw a lot of old materials reinvented, remember your elementary school linoleum floors? Say hello to a new composite material presented by Tarkett (@tarkettofficial) that can be wrapped virtually around any surface in both residential and commercial applications. De Castelli (@decastelliofficial) brings in all the metals we’ve been waiting for and Fornace Brioni (@fornacebrioni) seals the deal with their show-stopping tiles.
Velvet is here-to-stay. In case you were wondering. Just forget about your grandma’s sofa, it now covers walls, ceilings and built-ins. Dimore Studio and Apparatus Milano do it right and do it (mostly) bright.
We brought back with us a lot more inspiration than we can possibly fit in one blog post. Stay tuned, additional ideas coming soon, see you next year Milan
